'Supernatural Horror in Literature' is H. P. Lovecraft's survey and appreciation of horror fiction up to his own time, written between 1925 and 1934.

In it, Lovecraft surveyed the roots of contemporary "weird fiction" beginning with the gothic novelists, and including Ambrose Bierce, Arthur Machen, and Algernon Blackwood. Elements from all of the latters' writing were eventually incorporated into the Cthulhu Mythos.
