Epic Battle

Epic Battle cards were introduced in the Kingsport Horror expansion. When using this variant, a new Epic Battle card is drawn each turn of Final Battle, after the Upkeep phase.

New types of Epic Battle cards were added in the Miskatonic Horror expansion: Battle Events, which have a one-off effect, and Battle Conditions which remain in play for the rest of the battle.

Lost Hope 4Kingsport Horror Green Investigators Attack: Each investigator that wishes to attack this round must discard 1 'Weapon' or 'Spell'.

Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal.

Sinister Plot 4Kingsport Horror Green Ancient One Attacks: Draw a card from the Ancient One's Plot deck and immediately resolve it as though it were the Battle card for this round.
Taint of Evil 4Kingsport Horror Green Investigators Attack: Each die rolled by the investigators this round receives a -1 penalty to its result (e.g., a roll of 5 becomes a 4).

Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal.

The Bell Tolls 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Green Battle Event Any investigator with a current Sanity or 5 or more reduces his current Sanity to 4. This loss cannot be reduced by any items or abilities.

Any investigator with a current Stamina or 5 or more reduces his current Stamina to 4. This loss cannot be reduced by any items or abilities.

If there are 10 or more doom tokens on the doom track, remove doom tokens from the track until only 9 remain.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

Thoughts Shape the World 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Green Battle Event The first player makes a Will (-2) check. If he passes, he removes the green Epic Battle cards from the top of the Epic Battle deck and may then either shuffle 1 green Epic Battle card that has already been resolved (not including Battle Condition cards that are currently in play) back into the deck of green Epic Battle cards or he may search the green Epic Battle cards that have not yet been drawn and choose one to return to the box.

He then reshuffles the green Epic Battle cards and places them back on top of the red Epic Battle cards.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

Time Stands Still 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Green Battle Condition Keep this card in play for the rest of the game. Investigators receive a +1 to all skill checks except Combat checks.

Each time an investigator is devoured, all remaining investigators lose their choice of either 1 Stamina or 1 Sanity. This loss cannot be reduced by any items or abilities.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

Two Worlds Being Torn Apart 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Green Battle Condition Keep this card in play for the rest of the game. For each "6" an investigator rolls during a Combat check (not including any die bonuses or penalties to the die) add an additional success to the total number of successes rolled.

For each "1" an investigator rolls during a Combat check (not including any bonuses or penalties to the die) reduce the total number of successes rolled by 1 (to a minimum of 0).

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

Waves of Madness 4Kingsport Horror Green Investigators Attack: Each investigator that wishes to attack this round must lose 2 Sanity.

Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal.

A Noble Sacrifice 4Kingsport Horror Red Investigators Attack: The first player may choose to be Blessed before attacking this round. However, if he does so, he is devoured after attacking.

Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal.

A Painful Setback 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One gains 1 doom token after attacking this round.

Investigators Attack: The investigators attack as normal.

Fortune's Fool 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Red Battle Event The first player may look at the top three cards of the Epic Battle deck and then return them to the top of the deck in any order. The first player is then Cursed.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

Last Ditch Attack 4Kingsport Horror Red Investigators Attack: The investigators attack as normal. However, the Ancient One does not attack this round.
No One Will Save You 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Red Battle Condition Keep this card in play for the rest of the game. Before each investigator attacks, reset the investigators' cumulative successes against the Ancient One to zero.

One less success (to a minimum of 1) is required to remove a doom token from the Ancient One's doom track.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

One Final Prayer... 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal.

Investigators Attack: All investigators attack as if they were Blessed this round.

Overwhelming Force 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: The Ancient One attacks as normal. However, the investigators do not attack this round.
Sinister Plot 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: Draw a card from the Ancient One's Plot deck and immediately resolve it as though it were the Battle card for this round.
Sinister Plot 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: Draw a card from the Ancient One's Plot deck and immediately resolve it as though it were the Battle card for this round.
The End of Everything 4Kingsport Horror Red Ancient One Attacks: All of the investigators are devoured. They have lost the game.
There is No Rest 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Red Battle Condition Keep this card in play for the rest of the game. Investigators may no longer refresh cards that have been exhausted.

When this card is drawn, the Ancient One's combat modifier is increased by 1 to make him easier to attack. (For example, a -5 modifier is treated as -4).

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.

You Shall Share Arkham's Fate 12Miskatonic Horror: Kingsport Horror component Red Battle Event Place a number of doom tokens on the Ancient One's doom track (to a maximum of the highest number on the track) equal to the terror level.

Then remove 1 doom token from the Ancient One's doom track (to a minimum of 1) for each elder sign on a location.

Immediately draw and resolve another Epic Battle card.
