Talk:Naacal Key

I'm just curious, since I just picked up the Black Goat expansion and saw this while looking through the new cards: Why would you ever want to do this? I have been wracking my brains, but am unable to think of any circumstances where opening a gate would be helpful, since it counts directly against your goals for winning the game. I assume there must be some case where you'd want to? --Notfilc 01:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

My best guess is it gives you an opportunity to seal a location on your own terms. As you get to select the gate that opens, you can pick one of the easier one to close (like the Dreamlands). --Sittingduck_1313

So if you have 5 clues, and you're at the Woods, and you know you're eventually going to need to seal it anyway, you might decide to open it now so you can control where you go. I guess that makes sense, particularly if you could do it early in the game. Thanks. --Notfilc 07:34, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

If you successfully activate Naacal Key, does that add a counter to the Doom track? --Pigeonbane 10/23/2010

Probably. Since the card doesn't explicitly state otherwise, the basic rules regarding gates opening presumably apply as normal. Sittingduck_1313
