Lore

Lore may also refer to: the "Lore" Skill card, or Lore check, a skill check.

Lore is a Skill value which appears on each investigator card. It is paired with the Luck skill, and adjusted together with that skill via a Skill slider.

Like the other skill values, the total Lore value may be adjusted from the amount on the investigator card by the effects of Skill cards or other cards in play.

Lore Value Use in Gameplay

Lore checks

The total Lore value, as adjusted by the effects of Skill cards or other cards, is used to perform any Lore checks required by an encounter or other gameplay. The value of Lore used for Lore checks may be further adjusted by the investigator spending clue tokens on the check.

Spell checks

The total Lore value, as adjusted by the effects of Skill cards or other cards, is also used as the basis for Spell checks. These are a special type of Skill check used when attempting to cast a spell, and may have different positive or negative modifiers applied to them, in addition to the modifiers on the basic Lore check. The value used for Spell checks may also be adjusted by the investigator spending clue tokens on the check.
